Rescheduled Event: The Writers Group Presents Special Guest Author Annie Dawid
The Writers Group presents special guest author Annie Dawid on Friday, February 9 at 2 p.m. in the Library Community Room. Annie will read excerpts from her latest novel Paradise Undone a Novel of Jonestown. In Paradise Undone, the author has written ficÂtional accounts of a factual event. Her charÂacters were all real people, although some of the names have been changed. Dawid offers up several perspectives of the event, sprinkled with actual quotes from Jim Jones. She offers a glimpse into the minds of those involved, and their stories are told based on the facts that she uncovered through decades of research. A light snack will be served.
Annieâs reading will be followed by a question-and-answer session. The event is free and open to the public.
Mother/Baby Café
Miranda Hanan is excited to be starting a Mother-Baby CafĂ© on the first and third Thursdays of each month, beginning FebÂruary 1 in the West Custer County Library Community Room from 8 a.m. till 10 a.m. The Mother-Baby Cafe is a space for postÂpartum mothers (up to 12 months) to gather, connect, share stories and bond through the hardship and privilege of motherhood. Miranda will offer hands-on newborn support, postpartum education (including breastfeeding/baby wearing/belly binding/cloth diapering), nourishing snacks and coffee will be served. If you are not able to leave other children at home or with a loved one, a quiet activity will be provided for them. The heart of this group is to supÂport the mother. Miranda is honored to begin this journey; it is her desire to serve with utmost excellence and she cannot wait to meet everyone in person.
Miranda is a mother, herbalist, postÂpartum doula and breastfeeding and lactaÂtion coach. She married her middle school sweetheart at 18 and immediately began taking Clinical Herbalism courses with a deep focus in whole-body Womenâs Health.
