In what was a good turnout for the West Custer County Hospital District election on Tuesday, the relatively quiet campaign season saw six candidates vying for four positions. Incumbent Cindy Alvarado had the most votes at 635, and incumbent Ron Terry came in at 515 votes. Tom Shephard, who served on the board from 2019 to 2024, will rejoin the board after receiving 532 votes. Shanna McKellip is the only genuinely new member to the board and has over two decades of experience in healthcare. The two candidates who did not win were James Gilbert, who brought in 446 votes, and Clifford Brown, who earned 158 votes.
