(Note to readers, this press release was received less than two weeks from the election, there is a story about how the district failed to notify the public at this link here.)
While the other special districts and the two towns have cancelled their elections, one election will in fact take place in May. Voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 3, when they have a chance to cast their ballots in the Wet Mountain Fire Protection District election.
There are two seats available for three-year terms. Vying for those two spots are Clint Seiling, Roger Squire, and incumbent Russ Johnson.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on May 3. Make sure you bring your valid driverâs license or identification card so the election judges can verify your identity. If you need an absentee ballot, please contact Tracy Ballard, the Designated Election Official, and one will be mailed to you. Applications can be emailed to you or you can pick one up from the Wet Mountain Fire Protection District office during regular business hours. Their office is located at 215 4th Street in Westcliffe. Please email Tracy at editor@thevalleybeat.net, for more information.
