The Custer County School Board of Education (BOE) held a regular meeting on January 14, and a special meeting on January 21, the latter to approve the amended budget for the 2024-24 school year, an action item that was tabled from the regular meeting. Another action item, approval of a policy for an “Extracurricular Code of Conduct,” was also tabled. At the regular meeting, Superintendent Thom Peck announced that thanks to eight new students enrolling after Christmas break – seven elementary and one high school student – the official student count was 305 for the 2024-25 school year.
