For Coloradans, the year 2020 had a twinge of the Old Testament’s heavenly wrath. With the coming of spring and the pleasant calls of returning Meadowlarks and Red-winged Blackbirds, disease haunted the gathering places of people as COVID-19 spread across the world like an out-of-control, but silent forest fire.  Drought followed pestilence in the Rocky Mountain Region as the normal March and April snows failed to arrive, denying much-needed moisture to the highland peaks and reducing water in creeks, which in turn could not green the dry forests and plains below.
