Dangerous historic warning issued for massive windstorm forecast for Wednesday, April 22

Generally reserved for prolonged tornado outbreaks, the US Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a rare, and perhaps the first, Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) for a strong, hot, and dry windstorm hitting the region on Wednesday, April 22. The warning is defined as ā€œParticularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) wording, which is used in rare situations when long-lived, strong, and violent tornadoes are possible. This enhanced wording may also accompany severe thunderstorm watches for intense convective windstorms.ā€  Windstorms are notoriously hard to predict accurately, but the system moving into the region tomorrow is ripe for disaster. A historically dry winter is mixing with temperatures just under 70 degrees for the Wet Mountain Valley Region. Humidity is nonexistent, and the land is dry, making it prone to fire.…
