Generally reserved for prolonged tornado outbreaks, the US Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a rare, and perhaps the first, Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) for a strong, hot, and dry windstorm hitting the region on Wednesday, April 22. The warning is defined as “Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) wording, which is used in rare situations when long-lived, strong, and violent tornadoes are possible. This enhanced wording may also accompany severe thunderstorm watches for intense convective windstorms.”  Windstorms are notoriously hard to predict accurately, but the system moving into the region tomorrow is ripe for disaster. A historically dry winter is mixing with temperatures just under 70 degrees for the Wet Mountain Valley Region. Humidity is nonexistent, and the land is dry, making it prone to fire.…
