On Wednesday, April 22, Custer County Commissioner Bill Canda was due in Fremont County Court for his first hearing on alleged felony tax fraud. (Click here for that prior coverage) Canda and his attorney, Karl Tameler, were surprisingly absent from the hearing and instead appeared virtually via the court streaming service Webex. While virtual appearances are not unusual for minor hearings once they have started, generally, felony cases are presented in front of a judge at the first hearing.
