Will Burtt and his beloved wife, Mattie Burtt, shared a remarkable life rooted in love, partnership, and dedication to their family and community. Will passed away two years ago, and Mattie recently followed, bringing to a close a beautiful 30-year marriage that touched the lives of many.
Will is survived by his children: Doug (Christine) Burtt, Vincent Burtt, Melissa Burtt, and Tristan Burtt. Doug and Christine are the proud parents of Marshall and Megan. Vincent is survived by his son Chandler, and was preceded in death by his son Zach and his wife Stacia.
Mattie is survived by her sister, Deloris Norman, and her brothers, Donald Mitchell and David Mitchell. She is also survived by her niece and nephew, Shanda Sillings and Ronald Sillings. Ronald and his wife, Shawn Marie, have two children, Trace and Aubrie. Shanda is the mother of Jonas, Ashley, and Emily. Emily and her husband, Andrew, have two children, Wyatt and Rush. Ashley is the mother of Lyric and Feiffer.
Will and Mattie spent most of their married life in Westcliffe, where they became deeply woven into the fabric of the community. They first met as colleagues, each owning commercial print shops, and built a partnership that extended far beyond business into a lifelong love.
Mattie went on to become a beloved realtor in Custer County, known for her warmth, dedication, and genuine care for others. Will was known for his strong work ethic and his passionsācutting down trees and listening to jazz music, pursuits that reflected both his energy and his appreciation for lifeās simple pleasures.
Together, Will and Mattie created a home filled with love, laughter, and connection. Mattie found joy in her garden and in the companionship of her cherished dog, Doogie. Their relationship was one of deep devotion, inspiring those around them and leaving a lasting impression on all who knew them.
A celebration of life honoring both Will and Mattie will be held on June 13, 2026, at Lange Hall in Westcliffe, at 10:30 a.m. This will be a potluck gathering, and friends and loved ones are invited to bring a dish and share stories and memories of Will and Mattie. Lunch will begin at noon.
Their legacy lives on through their family, their friendships, and the community they helped build. They will be remembered not only for what they did, but for how they lovedāfully, generously, and with enduring commitment to one another.
They will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
