Wildfire season is currently active across Colorado and the western United States. Last week, Colorado Governor Jared Polis declared disasÂter emergencies for four wildfires in western Colorado, as well as a larger fire in Utah that has crossed the Colorado state line. These developÂments highlight the urgent need for preparedness among residents, espeÂcially in Custer County.
Both Custer and Fremont counÂties utilize the Everbridge system for emergency reverse notifications. This system provides critical, real-time alerts regarding wildfire threats, evacÂuation orders, and other public safety emergencies. However, residents must opt in to receive these potentially life-saving notifications.
