Team Roping and Penning returns every Thursday at Saddle Club

In the 2000s, when the days got longer, the Wet Mountain Valley Saddle Club rodeo grounds to the north of Westcliffe would be a busy and dusty hive of trailers, horses, cattle, and families as local team penners and team ropers enjoyed the summer evening weather and engaged in friendly western-style competitions. At its height, at least two evenings per week saw community rodeo events taking place that welcomed both participants and onlookers to take part in the fun. Last Saturday, the first attempts were made by the Saddle Club to bring back these fun events, as they held a team roping and practice pen-friendly competition, followed by a live band and a dance. The club hopes to make these events regular; to find out more and take part, visit their website at www.wmvsc.com.
