
Wanda Faye (Long) Christian, 84, of Westcliffe, Colorado, passed peacefully into heaven on April 19, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1940, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to James O. and Jean M. (Newport) Long.
Wanda is survived by her daughters, Shelley (Smith) Jones of Westcliffe, CO, and Angie Smith (Terry Satterfield) of Penrose, CO; her granddaughters, Lindsay Coleman (Derrick Flynn) of Westcliffe, CO, and Kelsey Coleman (Austin Adams) of Colorado Springs, CO; and her great-granddaughters, Elyza Rene Lehn, Lyrik Faye Flynn, and Lydia May Coleman, all of Westcliffe, CO, and Elin Zoey Ward of Minnesota.
She is also lovingly remembered by her special great-nieces and nephews: Teri Hensen of Castle Rock, CO; Jim (Dawn) Crook of Montrose, CO; Anthony Long, Tanner Hensen, and Audrae Hensen.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jean Long; her sister, Linda J. (Long) Guy; her brother-in-law, Gary Guy; her brother, Merle J. Long; and her niece, Tanya G. Long.
Wanda graduated from Lamar High School in 1958 and went on to attend Lamar Junior College, where she majored in business. In 1976, she relocated from Kansas to Westcliffe, Colorado, where she became a beloved member of the community. Wanda was the proud owner of Wanda’s Gardens, a floral shop and greenhouse, until her retirement in 2013.
Wanda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, creativity, and kindness leave a lasting legacy.
A service will be held Friday, May 2, at 1 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, and a memorial at the Saddle Club building immediately afterwards.
