With the changing of the season, beloved business Stage Stop has turned on its ice cream machines in anticipation of warm weather, along with a full menu for the rest of the spring and the summer. Owners Joe and Nancy Yandrofski have done a great job over the past four years building a business at the intersection of Highway 69 and 96 that has provided locals with year-round food options that have proved very popular.
In the winter, the demand for cold treats understandably drops off, but now the ice cream, including their famous sundaes, has returned for the upcoming warmer weather. “We are always trying to make sure we have the traditional favorites and new options for our customers,” Joe stated, “For example, our new roast beef sandwich, which we think people will love for a quick lunch.” The business focuses on fresh and handmade treats; when the Tribune stopped by to take a photograph, Nancy was busy in the back making biscuits by hand.
But the Yandrofski’s have more in mind than just the Stage Stop as they also own and operate the seasonal Zita’s Mountain Bistro that sits in the same sets of buildings. Nancy and Joe are putting together a new menu and looking for guest chefs to join on occasion for fine wines, small dishes, and, of course, good company.
