All fire restrictions lifted in Custer County

Still no firework show, parade on July 4 at 10 a.m.

The Wet Mountain Valley is living up to its name for a change, and nearly three inches of rain have fallen across most of the county in the past two days. Custer County Sheriff Robert Hill (the Sheriff is also the fire Marshall) announced late Friday afternoon that because of the ample moisture, all Stage One fire restrictions are lifted.

With that said, there will still be no July 4 fireworks show at Lake DeWeese. The bad winter drought was enough to prevent any idea of a show. In addition, because of world-wide shipping problems, it was uncertain if fireworks would be available for the show.

However, there will be a lot of great events this weekend and a July 4 parade on Monday. Check out the Tribune’s Free! Summer in the Valley Guide for more information on events this Summer by clinking here.
