4/20/2017 Rotary Van Project salutes Kassebaum as key volunteer
The Wet Mountain Valley Rotary Van Service held its annual Appreciation Dinner on Friday, April 7, at Tony’s Mountain Pizza. The dinner celebrated all the volunteers who keep the transportation service running smoothly. Some 35 people were in attendance for the dinner and recognition was given to all present. Special recognition was given to the men who have been serving this community through their volunteer efforts for more than seven years: Earl Fox, Barney Pelham and Patrick Lynch. The top four drivers for the last year were Tom York, Richard Metcalfe, Mike Banks, and Barney Pelham. The driver of the year for the fourth consecutive year is Gary Kassebaum. Kassebaum donated a total of 1,175 hours in the year 2016. According to van service dispatcher Shelly Penkoff, “The service appreciates Gary’s willingness to drive daily and his commitment to getting Custer County residents to their doctor appointments in a timely and safe manner.” The Van Service is actively seeking more people to add to its great list of volunteer drivers. “Many of our drivers give one day a week and some give one day a month, it is completely up to you,” said Penkoff. For more information, please contact Penkoff at 783-2343 to discuss an opportunity to serve your community.
