2/16/2017 Three to hit the mats: Bobcat trio off to state wrestling tourney
Three Bobcat wrestlers are headed to the state tournament today after a great performance at the regionals tournament held last weekend at the Custer County High School. Senior Andy Feldmann is headed to the state tournament for the third time during his high school wrestling career, “I have wrestled about half the guys that will be in the tournament, so I am feeling good.” Feldmann wrestles in the 152 weight class and goes into the state tourney with an impressive 26-6 record. Sophomore Ray Perez will be attending his first state tournament. “It’s going to be interesting; the home town crowd was really great this last weekend.” Perez nearly missed his chance to go to state; down by 12 points he managed an astounding turnaround with a pin in the last seven seconds of the match. Perez will wrestle in the 132 weight class with a season record of 22-13. Sophomore Dalton Wommack rounds out the trio, attending state for the second time wrestling in the 113 weight class and has a season record of 26-10. Matches start today at 3 p.m. in Denver at the Pepsi Center. The tournament lasts three days with the championship rounds on Saturday afternoon.
