1/11/2018 FACE Vocal Band to perform, hold workshop, at school
Next Thursday, January 18, at 7 p.m., the nationally acclaimed FACE Vocal Band will perform in Westcliffe at the Custer County School West Gym. This wildly popular singing group not only entertains diverse audiences but is also serious about educational outreach. Sponsored by In Concert Classical Music in the Valley, FACE will conduct a workshop assembly in the afternoon before the concert for choir students at the Custer County School where they will go into detail about the craft of creating compelling music with only their voices. The main theme of the workshop is that a foundation of healthy singing can result in some incredible sounds, regardless of the genre. At the evening concert the School Choir will perform before welcoming FACE to the stage. Tickets are available at the school office, Loan A Ranger, and Candy's Coffee. There are two ticket options: Concert goers can purchase tickets for a benefit spaghetti dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. which includes admission to the concert, or they can choose to attend the concert only which starts at 7 p.m. For the combined spaghetti dinner and concert ticket prices are $20 for adults and $10 for students. For the concert only the admission is $15 for Adults and $10 for Students. Pre-schoolers may attend either event for free, accompanied by their parents. Those who are attending the spaghetti dinner at 5:30 will be entertained by members of the local community including Dan Epperson, Andrew Straight, who is also the director of the Custer County School Bands and the Sangre de Cristo Community Band, with David Collins on trumpet. These musicians will perform jazz, pop, and rock favorites. This event is a fundraiser for the Custer County Schools music program and also provides a golden opportunity for the community to enjoy a meal and a concert at an affordable price.
