8/10/2017 School bells to ring next week for Custer County students
It’s all for real: Custer County Schools open the doors a week from today. After new teacher orientation today and teacher in service and workdays next Monday through Wednesday, the bell rings and the doors fling open for this year’s student body. Thursday, August 17 is the first day of school for grades 6 through 12; it will be a full day, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those hours also hold the kindergarten through 5th grade orientation. The regular school schedule kicks in for grades 1 through 5 on Monday, August 21; the following Wednesday, August 23 is the first day of school for kindergarten kids. Pre-school has a separate schedule as well with two parent orientation sessions Monday, August 21, the first from 8 to 9 a.m., the second from 3 to 4 p.m. Pre-school classes begin Monday, August 28 at 8 a.m. The Custer County Schools 2017-2018 calendar and details on the opening of school activities are available online at custercountyschools.org; the main office number is 783-2291. – W.A.
